Preterite VS Imperfect regarding decir

Basically im filling in the correct verb conjugation for my revision.

El viernes por la noche cuando (ESTAR) ESTABA en casa de Alex yo le (DECIR) DIJE que yo (GANAR) GANÉ en la lotería.

Im slightly confused by the "yo le dije" part as to where does the I.O and D.O come about? As i thought the I.O is to le - "you" and thus thought i should use Dije but I am not sure.

Can someone clear it up? And also tell me if I have made any other mistakes?

Muchas Gracias Amigos.

Your understanding of le seems to be correct; in this case it refers to Alex, who is the indirect object.

Your verb conjugations are correct, however, the winning of the lotería most likely happened before this conversation with Alex, so ganar should be conjugated to past perfect just as you woud in English, ie: ...... había ganado la lotería. Also the use of yo so often is not necessary as it´s understood from context and conjugation of verbs who yo is.
