¿Cómo se dice: "Me late" en inglés?

I read it in the lyrics for the Disney movie "Frozen"

¡Por primera vez en años, Me late el corazón!

I would translate it as

For the first time in years, my heart (beats/is beating)

The lyrics in Spanish are listed as: No se si es emoción o gases, Pero hay algo en mi interior, ¡Pues por primera vez en años Me late el corazón!

But in English they say: Don't know if I'm elated or gassy But I'm somewhere in that zone! Cause for the first time in forever I won't be alone

Is there something else that it might be talking about?

It is just so that it has the same rhythm in both languages and flows. They are both indications of romance, emotion, and that he/ she has met someone. If you translate the english version to spanish and sing it, it would sound out of place. - jphip, May 1, 2014
