"por demas"
I came across "por demás" translated as "extremely." As I've never seen that phrase translated that way, I thought I'd throw it out there. Here is the context:
"Nos encontramos con un hombre que pregonaba "¡Alegrías, alegrías!" No sabíamos que ese es el nombre de uno de los dulces tradicionales mexicanos, entre muchos otros por demás simpáticos..."
"Por demás simpáticos" is translated as "exrtemely amusing." I used the Spandict translator and this translation was not given.

A search in dictionaries and on the internet revaels a range of meanings for the words "por demás". It is difficult to select only one of those meanings as a reply to your question.
I feel as though the selection would have been helped if you had completed the sentence in which the word "por demás" were used. Whatever follows "sympáticos" might have helped to point to an answer.
I'll take a chance and suggest that the phrase, "Por demás simpáticos" means "among many other more sympathetic ???..."
What do others think???
