Hello anis,
Much depends on the context and what exactly you are trying to say!
In Spain they say:
el inodoro /el váter = toilet (bowl)
el lavabo means kitchen sink, but it is also listed as meaning toilet.
I have used and heard of the first two words above for the toilet bowl..
I believe that the words el inodoro o el excusado mann the same but the word excusado is listed in my Oxford Spanish Dictionary with the letters ant which, as I suspected means antiquated /old fashioned. Natives might laugh or give you a funny look if you were to use outdated Spanish words or expressions.
If you are referring to toilet in the sense of asking, "May I use your toilet?" in a friend's/someone's personal home in Spain you could say:
¿ Puedo pasar al baño, por favor? = Can I use your toilet, please? (lit: Can I pass to the toilet?)
cuarto del baño = the bathroom.
If you want to ask where the toilets are in a public place like a station or airport you could say: ¿Dónde están los aseos, por favor?
You could use los servicios = services, too, but as my native friend Penélope, from Spain, once correctly pointed out to me when I suggested this word that los aseos is a much better translation because los servicios can refer to many different kinds of services eg: servicios sociales = social services.
If you have some young children with you at the time, and they are looking uncomfortable while moving around or standing and holding themselves in an awkward manner while you are asking for directions to the toilet, someone might just be perceptive enough to realize which services you require! lol hahaha but why take the risk/chance?!
I hope ths helps
They are the same just depends on the country. El escusado and inodoro are the same. Lavabo is more like the kitchen sink along with fregadero. In Guatemala They say lavatrastos for kitchen sink. Lavamanos is like your bathroom sink. Once again it just depends on where you are in the world.
