How do I type in the accent characters when entering a Spanish word for flashcards? I cannot find an electronic keyboard to do this.

If you have a numeric pad or if the pad is part of the function key, in which case you would have numbers on the 789 uio jkl and m keys.

All you have to do is to press and keep down the ALT key and type the following numbers:

129 ü

130 é

144 É

154 Ü

155 ¢

156 £

160 á

161 í

162 ó

163 ú

164 ñ

165 Ñ

166 ª

167 º

168 ¿

171 ½

172 ¼

173 ¡

174 «

175 »

0193 Á

0205 Í

0211 Ó

0218 Ú

If you can't switch your keyboard nor figure out the alt key codes, you can always do one of two easy things:

  • copy and paste accented letters from another document or webpage

  • enter the English words and lets SpanishDict help you pick the Spanish word by clicking the <> button between the two fields

The webpage ray76 recommended is a great resource: http://www.studyspanish.com/accents/typing.htm

Try these links:

see if this helps, just click this link

In the search box under the green 'ask a question' box, type in "typing accents". You will find so many ideas from former posts that your head will spin. Good luck!
