Just some examples for vislumbrar, vislumbrarse and siquiera, requested by Jimmy 1978.

TR: Ejemplos solicitados por Jimmy 1978 para las palabras vislumbrar, vislumbrarse y siquiera

Anyway, feel free to give a try with these words and, in case of any grammar-or-so mistake, I'll try my best to explain the reasons and fix that thing out.

TR: De todas formas, siéntanse en libertad de dar un intentón con éstas palabras, y en caso de un error gramatical o similar, haré lo mejor que pueda para explicar porqué es un error y arreglar la cuestión

Hope you enjoy. ( TR: Espero les guste )

VISLUMBRAR:

...Y luego, después de la neblina, empezamos a vislumbrar el horizonte a lo lejos. ......Then, after the fog, we started to glimpse horizon in the distance.

VISLUMBRARSE

...Y entonces ella dijo que la luna podia vislumbrarse a traves de la neblina. ...Then she said that the moon could be glimpsed thru the fog.

SIQUIERA

This one is somehow special because its meaning depends a lot from the context. TR: Esta es de algun modo especial debido a que su significado depende bastante del contexto.

A ella no le importa tan siquiera un poco... ( slang way: a ella le importa un carajo, a ella le importa un comino ) She don't care even a little...

Here you are, finally ! Siquiera llegaste !

No puedo ni siquiera dar ( also 'siquiera ni dar' ) 2 pasos porque me duele mucho la pierna derecha. Cant walk more than 2 steps because my right leg hurts a lot.

Regards everyone.

Thank you so much my friend .. but I am soooooo confused about siquiera ... it doesn't seem to follow any set logic I think .. - 00b055e0, Apr 15, 2014
Don't worry Jimmy, I'll try to make a post for 'siquiera' exclusively, from the most common ( which, I swear, you've already understood ) to the most most slangy ones. Take care. - jctv, Apr 16, 2014

Your examples are great however, I don´t think "siquiera" is properly used in your second example. "Siquiera llegaste" doesn´t mean "here you are, finally!" The meaning of "siquiera" is closer to "even"(like in your first example) or to "at least". Imagine your brother is coming from another city to your birthday party. He arrives when the party is almost over and he doesn't buy you a present... but, AT LEAST he went to your party. He had so much work to do but he made some time for you. "Siquiera llegó a la fiesta" "Por lo menos llegó a la fiesta."

"Here you are, finally!" isn´t the same as "At least you came!", is it? In Spanish it is very common to say "¡Al fin llegas!"

Hope I made myself clear. smile

Well, 'siquiera llegaste' is very used, at least locally, to express big joy for something that comes true, almost like a miracle or something, is the opposite for 'al menos llegaste' or 'bueno, al menos ya estás aquí '. Regards. - jctv, Apr 15, 2014
P.e: 'Al menos lo sabes' is very different to 'siquiera lo sabes', the first one has a lot of resignation on it, and the second one has some kind of relief or even joy; let's say ' siquiera ' is not ' so dark ' as ' al menos ' and ' al fin ' are for us. - jctv, Apr 15, 2014
That's why I've posted ' here you are, finally ! ', to express a situation of happyness, now that in cases like this, ' at least ' reduces the magic of what have just happened to its minimal expression. Regards. - jctv, Apr 15, 2014
I get the idea .. but I am still confused about the other uses of siquiria ... I am sure it is going to haunt me in my sleep tonight ... I am scared - 00b055e0, Apr 15, 2014
I guess it depends on the dialect, then. - NanakaTsípekua, Apr 15, 2014
