It does make sense to a certain point. I understand you threw something and you missed the spot where you wanted the thrown object to fall/hit. What does not make sense is the trash. Di you mean the trash can? To me, it would be something like this:
Lo tiré, pero no dí en el blanco.
Lo tiré, pero no le acerté al bote de la basura.

La* tiré, pero no le acerté al bote de basura (basurero). This is what I came up with, If you are talking about throwing out the trash but missing the trash can. If this isn't the idea, post it in english first.
"La*" if you are talking about "basura" which is a feminine word.
