I am looking for some nouns.

Question

My newest grandchild will be brought up bilingual. I am needle pointing baby blocks with pictures representing the letters of the alphabet. I did spend time looking up the spanish translation for the words I use on the English baby blocks however I am still missing a picture ( object) for several letters. I need something to needlepoint for U, Y W, LL, Q and R. Can anyone give me a suggestion?

ll- one thought might be llave= key

Q- queso= cheese

R- I am not sure why you are having difficulty- there are lots of r words; reno= reindeer, but there are so many options

U- Uva- grape

Y- yate= yacht, yegua=mare, yunque= anvil; none perfect but they are what I can come up with

W- not really a Spanish letter, very hard, i have seen wapití (elk) but have also seen it spelled uapití- they are all basically English words (eg., Wafle= waffle)

U - uvero (retailer of grapes); Y - ; W - ; LL - llover (to rain); Q - quince (15); R - rata (rat);

I'm not sure if you want English or Spanish nouns. But one good way to find some A-Z nouns is to go to the Q&A on the blue toolbar, under the question box will be a search box. Then type in A-Z. A lot will pop up of former threads using A-Z categories. You should find all the nouns of whatever category you would like to use.

Here is one for animals since it's a common baby theme: A-Z animals

I see you are a new member. Make sure you click "newest" to get the A-Z in A,B, C order.

Also, if you are trying to find Spanish words, remember that there are more letters in their alphabet than in English: i.e. - ñ

U, Y W, LL, Q and R

LL = la llave = key, la lluvia = rain

Q = queso = cheese, quiche (quiche) quisquilla = shrimp, kiosco/kiosko = kiosk, quitasol = sunshade

R = el radio (= radio) un rinoceronte = a rhinocerus, una rueda = a wheel, una red = a net

U = una urraca = a magpie

Y = un yaguar = a Jaguar, (the animal of course, lol) un yate = a yacht, yayo = grandad /yaya = grandma (colloquial)

W = una wamba = plimsoll/sneaker,

I'm sure you could also find some other suitable words, whether by looking in an online dictionary or, if you don;t have your own hard copy, a Spanish dictionary borrowed from a local library, and especially through an internet Google search!
