The Catholic bible? - 007c5fc1, Apr 12, 2014
Knowing the vast number of differences and editions, I think it's a very good question. Hopefully someone will be able to answer it in more detail. - Manity, Apr 12, 2014

It depends on your personal preferences and how in-depth you study the bible, the Reina Valera uses vosotros and is the equivalent to the King James. In the modern translations some things are clearer but some little things are also lost. There is not a best translation because each translation has its benefits and flaws. There is only the best for you translation and you need to read some of each to decide which one it is. Just about every translation can be found online.

I have 2 different English translations and 3 different Spanish translations in book form. If you have an android cell phone, tablet or ipad just download the Olive Tree Bible study program for free and add the Reina Valera. You can also add the Greek and Hebrew originals. And free is the best price.

The only difference between Catholic and other bibles is that some Catholic bibles contain some of the apocryphical books (not all the apocryphical books). They are not necessary to understand the message in God´s word and I have never seen the church use them.

Excellent comments. Also it should be noted - that the transllation likely to do you the most good, is the one you read the most. . . - Esteban_317, Apr 12, 2014
True Esteban, just to add another note if planing on mission work call ahead and ask which translation they are using. - 00551866, Apr 12, 2014

Your profile is incomplete and does not mention (yet) your ability level in English or Spanish, although your name gives the hint that you might be very comfortable in Spanish; regardless I would recommend a bilingual Bible - the following has the imprimatur, and is therefore endorsed by the Catholic Church . . .

For simpler study of both languages the bilingual New Testament: Dios Llega Al Hombre / Good News For Modern Man (sociedad Biblica Americana - ABS) would be a good bet -

at least it has been a help for me . . .

That is what I like about Olive Tree, you can have any two of the multiple languages side by side. - 00551866, Apr 12, 2014
that's great - Esteban_317, Apr 13, 2014
