Question regarding "ir"

Hola Amigos, I am working on conjugating a sentence that contains an "ir" verb, and I am trying to determine which form would work well. Ultimately, I am trying to find out WHY which form works best. Here is the sentence:

"Porque el primer precio es casi siempre [ir] a ser muy alto". Basically, this reads that "Because the first price is almost always going to be very high. However wouldn't "ir" suffice in this example, or would it be "va"? Or some other form perhaps? Gracias, Mike

Spanish speakers do not use the present progressive to refer to the future the way we do in English- it refers only to what is happening now.

If you were using the progressive it would be "está yendo". But don't here, just translate the entire "is going" as "va"- don't use "es".

Porque el primer precio casi siempre va a ser muy alto.

Because the first price almost always is going to be very high.

I am an intermediate level learner, and occasionally make errors.

Mike, va is 3rd person singular of ir.

It works well in you case: El precio siempre va a ser muy alto.

As an alternative to ir in this case you could use salir or estrenar

Porque el primer precio casi siempre sale muy alto.

I also am not a native speaker, but I hear salir used often with things like this.
