which movie is playing. (group discussion)

Question

Hi all,

One way to say this (which I am aware about) is que película dan el el cine ,, now I am not sure if other verbs like mostrar and actuar can be used in this context.

I thus request all to kindly come forward and participate in a group discussion so we (especially the intermediates and the beginners) could expand our horizons a bit ..around this topic.

Friends, I just asked my venezuelan friend ,, and she told me that it could be said in two ways :Que película está en cartelera. O que película están pasando en el cine. So this was a native venezuelan response ,, I request some other natives from other countries to kindly share there views on this topic too .. thanks

In England we say: What film is on at the cinema?

over here, if speaking in English we would normally say ,, whiich movie is showing/playing .. - 00b055e0, Apr 2, 2014

We don't use ' playing' with films. We can say ' What's showing at the cinema?' but usually we say'What's on?' - annierats, Apr 2, 2014

En el diario se dice: Encuentra aquí las últimas películas que se estrenan en el cine...

También : Películas en cartelera de cines para hoy en La Paz, Cochabamba y Santa Cruz. (I've put this in as it apperas to be in use in Latin America)

Dear Annie, thanks for your comment ,, estrenar however means to release or to debut (for the first time) or to premier ,, this is slightly a different context because we are talking about the movies showing (regardless of when they were released). - 00b055e0, Apr 2, 2014
