Whats the difference? Same thing?

rendition - delivery?

subjugation - defeat, overthrow?

El_Rey - I am surprised that you are questioning the relationship of these words. I know you do not do so without reason. Can you explain where you saw these words used so it gave rise to this question in your mind? - Moe, Apr 2, 2014

Wow. Let me render this for your consideration. In ancient times there was (and still is) a saying: Render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's. The persons doing the rendering were recently conquered (sp?) subjects and thus were subjugated by Ceasar.

This is the only relation that I can think of between the two words.

Gringo has given you a fantastic answer.. However ' rendition' can mean delivery in the sense of ' His rendition of the poems was most moving' meaning that his delivery( his way of reading) the poems was moving.

There's another definition of "rendition" that is more closely related to "subjugation":

the practice of sending a foreign criminal or terrorist suspect covertly to be interrogated in a country with less rigorous regulations for the humane treatment of prisoners.

Is that more like what you had in mind, Rey?

Both would result in taking away freedom and exercising power to dominate.

I do not find any similarity between the two English words in your question.

 

I looked at dictionary definitions in the Collins online English dictionary at these entries:
.....rendition....----> Definition
....subjugation ----> Definition

 

For me, these words are vastly different. Please examine the dictionary definitions and see what you think. If you still have one or more questions after reading the meanings, please write to my inbox and I will reconsider the whole problem. I'm sorry if I have not understood the question.

Subjugation -- "Being conquered or controlled".

Rendition -- "Your version of something".
