Por la tarde

Question

I have seen lots of por la tarde, but is para la tarde ever used? I have seen para...la tarde, but I don't know if I have seen it actually as para la tarde.

My first reraction was no, but I was wrong:

Tenemos por ejemplo '' Oración para las tres de la tarde''.

It is specific. Apart from that I think it is arare usage, only to specify somethig very precicely, at a given point of the afternoon.

The norm is: ''Nos vemos mañana, por la tarde..''

Note that this is a sort of guess.

If you are referring to a dead-line by which you need to complete a task ,, then use Para la tarde .. por ejemplo .. tenemos que terminar los quehaceres domesticos para la tarde ... we have to finish our domestic chores latest by the afternoon.

But for general reference of any part of the day you need to use por .. por la mañana.. por la tarde etc.

For example ,, mi marido y yo irémos al cine por la tarde y vamos a ver una pelicula de comedia.
