I have a major test coming up for Spanish and I have no idea how to do it. I really can't afford to want to fail so any help will be much appreciated!

Here is what I have to do:

I have to write a letter to a friend integrating the following concepts.

Included topics: • Talk about your daily routines • Talk about staying fit and healthy • Estas listo? • Que te falta hacer? • Que tienes que hacer para prepararte? • Como te mantienes en forma? • Que haces para relajarte? You will use: • verbs with reflexive pronouns • Infinitives verbs • Present tense of acabar de followed by an infinitive • All new vocabulary words, ideas, and concepts

Thank you so much guys!

Thanks for making the effort to translate your work first as this is part of the learning process. It does you no good having other people do all the translating for you. Languages are great! Nice work! Hope this helps! Have a good weekend!

Querido Miguel,

Quiero hablar con usted acerca de mi rutina diaria. Me levanto a las 7:30 (de la cama), me cepillo los dientes (Try placing this after you eat.) y (tomo) una ducha. Luego (tomo) un desayuno rápido y me visto (normally you dress before you eat. I don't want to picture this. Point is, change the order: Luego me visto y tomo un desayuno rápido.). Entonces(,) espero el autobús que me llevar(á) a la escuela. En la escuela, voy a todas mis clases normales y luego me preparo para ir a casa. Después de tomar el autobús a mi casa yo termino mi tarea y com(o) un bocadillo. Entonces, para mantener(me) en forma, me voy al gimnasio. En el gimnasio, me gusta levantar pesas y correr en la (caminadora). Después de un largo día, llego a casa, ceno (you brush your teeth before you go to bed right? Hint!) , y(, erase the",") finalmente, (voy) a dormir.

Atentamente,

(Linda)

We do not do people's homework as such, but I will give you a few starting points...

  1. ¿Que te falta hacer? What do you need to do?

  2. ¿Que tienes que hacer para prepararte? What do you have to do to get yourself ready? (literally: to prepare yourself)

  3. ¿Como te mantienes en forma? How do you stay in shape/ keep yourself in shape?

  4. ¿Que haces para relajarte? Clue... verb: relajarte = means to relax You can look up the verb infinitive hacer to work out what the questions are asking.

You must do the rest! smile ¡Buena suerte! (Good luck!)

As soon as you have done your homework please post it here and people will be happy to offer corrections, guidance and advice!

I hope ths helps!

Dear Miguel,

I want to talk to you about my daily routine. I wake up at 7:30, get our of bed, brush my teeth, and take a shower. Then I eat a quick breakfast and get dressed. Then I wait for the bus to take me to school. At school, I go to all my normal classes and then I get ready to go home. After I take the bus to my house I finish my homework and eat a snack. Then, to stay in shape, I go to the gym. In the gym I like to lift weights and run on the treadmill. After a long day, I come home, eat dinner, and finally go to sleep. Sincerely, Linda

Querido Miguel,

Quiero hablar con Ud acerca de mi rutina diaria. Me despierta a las 7.30 am (o siete y media de la mañana ), me levanto, me cepillo los dientes y tomo una ducha (o me ducho), luego me desayuno rápidamente y me visto , Después, espero que el autobús me lleve a la escuela. (You need present subjunctive here not future indicative) En la escuela, ( o al llegar a la escuela = On arriving at the school ) voy a todas mis clases diarias y luego me preparo volver a casa.
Después de coger (o tomar) el autobús a mi casa, acabo mis deberes (o tareas) y como algo ligero, entonces voy al gimnasio para mantenerme en buena forma . En el gimnasio me gusta levantar pesas y correr en la cinta. Al fin de un largo día, vuelvo a casa , ceno, y finalmente me duermo.

Atentamente, (o A Ud atentamente) Linda

The highlighted words need correction. Please take note of any changes to the text. Try to avoid starting too may sentences with the word 'then', it can make it sound too repetitive - FELIZ77, Mar 28, 2014

You have quite a few word for word translations that don't really work well. It looks like you used the machine translator for the whole letter. Machine translators are helpful but not something you should depend on. It is better to trust what you have been taught. You also learn better when you try to do it yourself. Since you did put forth the effort and wrote the letter here are my suggestions to fix the wonky machine translations.

I suggest Me despierto =I wake up

me levanto de la cama - I get out of bed

me ducho = I take a shower.

me acuesto= I go to bed/sleep

So that gives you some reflexive verbs you were needing.
You still need an example of acabar de + an infinitive. You already have a place in your letter where you can use it but I will let you find it.
Hope this helps.

Would you mind telling me what acabar de means and how to use it in a sentence? I'm very confused. - rrspamrr, Mar 28, 2014
If it is something required on your test I am assuming you went over it in your class. - deedeegill72, Mar 28, 2014
acabar de + an infinitive means to have just done something, acabo de comer =I just ate - deedeegill72, Mar 28, 2014
acabar on it's own can also mean "to finish". acabo mi trabajo = I finish my work. - deedeegill72, Mar 28, 2014

OK, just write the letter in English, the way you would to any friend. Then do your best in translating it. Post your results for help.

I like to use this website here to get to know words or verbs I'm not familiar with, you just type the word in and it will come up with a wide variety of sentences with the chosen word or words. It's just a good way of becoming familiar with words or phrases in a hurry.

Can someone at least explain the topics to me? I'm not expecting anyone to do my homework... I just don't know how to start :( Even a small example would suffice (Just something to get me started)

If you have a test coming up then surely you have a teacher who would have already taught you the basics? - mark1118, Mar 28, 2014
I wish...My teacher just comes in and tells us to read pages in the textbook but I really have trouble understanding the material. - rrspamrr, Mar 28, 2014
