If you have time to listen and correct

Hey y'all.

I had to do a recording for school, and I was wondering if you could listen (and read) and then hand me your thoughts; where I was wrong and how I can improve in both my writing and speaking.

Here is the recording and below is the written. smile

Hi actorgirl , it is not in my brief to comment on the Spanish , although it did

sound OK to me . But with respect you could try putting a little life into your

delivery , try modulating your voice , feel the emotion of the words , start in a lower

register ,and gradually finish on a high happy note. But overall I thought it very good ,

well done .

Very good job Actorgirl. Here are a few pointers per your request smile

Pasado - seguridad

These need the soft 'th' sounding d

At the beginning of a word and after "n" or "l", the hard Spanish "d" closely resembles the "d" in the word "dog." The difference is that when pronouncing the hard Spanish "d", the tongue touches the back of the front teeth (rather than the gum ridge, as in English). In other situations (particularly between vowels) the "d" is softer, closely resembling the "th" sound in the word "this."

familia, reuniones

Probably wouldn’t hurt to listen to the automated voice on the translation window to hear these words,

Canadá

Notice in Spanish how the accent falls on the last A

Viajamos obtuvimos

1.Words ending in a vowel, -n, or -s are stressed on the next to the last (penultimate) syllable:

2.Words ending in any consonant except -n or -s are stressed on the last syllable:

fácil

Two syllable word with the stress on the first syllable as shown by the accent mark.

Hacía

Notice that the stress falls on the last syllable as shown by the accent mark.

Good attempt! It was interesting to read and I was surprised that there was no security and there were no 'Customs' officers.

I will return to this later ( I have only checked the text and have not listened to the spoken recording) but I will write a quick observation!

At the end, It should read " He/.hemos hecho nuevoS amigos Hecho by itself simply does not indicate who made new friends This past participle forms part of a tense called the perfect indicative and needs to be conjugated correctly like all verbs.

He hecho (...amigos) = I have made (...friends)

has hecho = You have made

ha hecho = he/she has made.

You have made (sing and polite)

Hemos hecho = We have made

Habéis hecho - You have made (Plural form used in Spain)

Han hecho They have made

Were you meaning to say: I made new friends He hecho nuevos amigos ? or Hemos hecho nuevos amigos = We have made new friends. ?

Usually, but not always, the adjective follows the noun in Spanish, but in this case the adjective nuevos precedes the noun amigos!

In Spanish, as also with French, sometimes the same adjective can either precede or follow a noun but carry a different meaning!

I hope this helps smile

Dear ,, a great try indeed but if I may, I would sure like to suggest some corrections so that u deliver it correctly in your school ..

irst correction... should be nuestros instrumentos y equipaje (nos is a reflexive, or direct object or indirect object pronoun and can't be used here) here u need a possesive adjectivee to indicate you ownership or posseisson of the items you are referring to ,, which is nuestro.

2nd suggestion : It might be better to say ,, fui a garden hill con mi familia ,, instead of fui con mi familia a garden hill ,, because IR has a characterstic preposition "a" which always follows the verb ,, it is like Ir and a are married to each other so it might not be a good idea to set them apart .

And then for the next sentence I would like to suggest .... facturamos todo el equipaje que incluyó nuestros instrumentos.

And not fuimos viajando ,, but ,, estuvimos/estabamos viajando or simply viajabamos .

And minister is ,, el ministro ,,, ministerio means tye whole ministry ,, I think that is not what u want to say (that you were travelling with an entire ministry) so if u were travelling with one minister it is ministro ..

Then ,, fueron no aduana needs to be changed to no hubo aduana or no había aduana ,, the negation no comes before the verb ...

Ok dear need to take Leo for a walk ,,, I will read the rest later on... Good Job though.

I wrote it all on my phone's touch screen so please pardon the spelling mistakes - 00b055e0, Mar 28, 2014
;) thanks Jimmy. I forgive you. :P When I said I was traveling with a ministry, I meant like a corporation kind of. Not a mininster and not a bunch of ministers, but almost like a business, except that they are dedicated to helping people - actorgirl, Mar 28, 2014
in the name of Jesus usually. :) some can be a little weird tho. :) - actorgirl, Mar 28, 2014
haha ok dear,, like ministers playing missionaries ,, I guess - 00b055e0, Mar 28, 2014
but then too ,, u might want to say ,, algunos ministros (some ministers) or conjunto de ministros ,, because ministerio would reffer to a whole ministry ,, like ministerio defe - 00b055e0, Mar 28, 2014
like ministerio de asuntos exteriores ... - 00b055e0, Mar 28, 2014
Ok, but would this refer to people or the ministry itself? And would it be best for me to refer to the people or the ministry? - actorgirl, Mar 28, 2014
if u say ministerio that would reffer to the whole ministry ,, the whole cabinet or the whole department ,,, as if, u are saying that the whole ministry was travelling with u .. - 00b055e0, Mar 28, 2014
u might be better of saying ,, equipo de ministros (team of ministers) or grupo de ministros ,, or unos ministros or algunos ministros etc. depending on what u are trying to say - 00b055e0, Mar 28, 2014
ok .. bye for now ,, got to go ,, take care - 00b055e0, Mar 28, 2014
Ok. that sounds good. thanks for your help, and not just telling me, but explaining why. I appreciate that. :) - actorgirl, Mar 28, 2014
and dear, it should be nuevos amigos not amigos nuevo,, nuevo is one of those adjectives that changes meaning with respect to it's placements,, if u put nuevo after the noun ig means newly produced or newlly born - 00b055e0, Mar 29, 2014
Ok thank. - actorgirl, Mar 29, 2014
