would this sentence make sense? " lo peor del colegio son los deberes porque es duro y toma mucho tiempo. la semana pasada había hecho mis deberes pero mi profesor me he dicho que no era bueno."

.... NO, it does not make sense at all. It looks stilted. Try this:

Lo peor del colegio son los deberes escolares (las tareas) porque son difíciles de hacer y toman mucho tiempo. La semana pasada había hecho mis tareas pero mi profesor me dijo que no estaban bien.

Sería mejor así creo yo: Lo peor del colegio son los deberes porque son difíciles y toma mucho tiempo hacerlos. La semana pasada hice mis deberes pero mi profesor me dijo que no estaban bien.

There are a thousand ways to skin this cat. I tried to make it sound as close as posible to what you were trying to write.

Los deberes is indeed plural and you can use it; however, if you wanted to change it to singular you could use "la tarea" (homework).

"duro" by itself sounds incomplete in this case. I changed it to "difícil" above. If you wanted to use "duro" , you would want to say "duro hacerla" (la for tarea or los for deberes).

You do not have to use "había hecho" in this context either. It is great that you are exploring this tense; however, it sounds a little odd in this context. Everyone would understand though.

same for as above for "me he dicho". Also, If you were to use this in another context, you would want to use "me ha dicho" because you are not refering to yourself but rather your teacher. (ha = refering to your teacher) and change up the structure a bit.

You should not use "era bueno" in this situatation. You could use "era bueno" if you were talking about a retired athlete that used to be a good player; If some one has died and they were a good person; or if are saying that the boy used to be good when he was younger, but now he is bad. (Just to name a few.)
