Parecer used as a noun.

Question

This is an informative post meant to help the beginners and intermediate students to expand their horizons around the word parecer :

Well, we all know that parecer is one of the most frequently used verbs in Spanish but How many of you (beginners/intermediate students) knew that it is also a noun .. well yes indeed it is .. Parecer in Spanish can also be used as a verb which could either mean an opinion or some one's appearance :

For example :

cambiar de parecer -> to change one's mind (literally meaning : change of opinion) de buen parecer -> good-looking

So this is the noun El Parecer which is some times used in conjunction with de.

The son looks like his father/ El hijo se parece a su papa.

Parecer: Opinion

Porque has cambiado de parecer en este asunto? Why have your changed your mind on

this matter?

Parecer: to like, approve

No me parece/apruebo que regreses a casa muy tarde.

I don't like/approve that you come back home so late.
