Question

If i were to say "After i leave school, i will go to cambridge university to study physics."

how would i come and say that?

Cuando termine la escuela, iré a la Universidad de Cambridge a estudiar (Ciencias) Físicas.

En el caso de España, la escuela sería el instituto.

Try this (and somebody please correct me if I am wrong):

Después de que yo me vaya escuela, voy a ir a Universidad de Cambridge a estudiar física.

Cuando termine (he terminado)(terminaré) escuela (/secundaria/prepa/colegio/etc), (voy a ir)(iré) a Universidad de Cambridge para estudiar fisica.

Since finishing school is a future event I would choose one of the two forms presented. I am not a grammarian so I do not know which is more correct. Apparently I need the subjunctive here.

High school takes many different forms depending on where you are. So choose the one used and understood by your audience.

I also put the informal future tense using "ir a", and the true future tense "iré".

I chose "para" instead of "a" as did actorgirl to to express "in order to study physics" But "a" can work as well. Apparently "a" works better.

I think when we use "cuando" for future events, we have to use the subjunctive... :P - NikkiLR, Mar 17, 2014

you're right, if you follow cuando with a future event you can't declare it because it hasn't happened yet so you use the subjunctive. If you follow cuando with an habitual event however you can declare it because it's true. - Kiwi-Girl, Mar 19, 2014
