Café y Marrón
Esta es sólo una observación de acuerdo a lo que yo sé y donde viví (México):
El color café es "brown". El color marrón es un color café algo oscuro con tonos rojizos (parecido al "chestnut brown")
Entonces en mi caso y en el caso de muchos mexicanos, el marrón es un color específico que deriva del color café y no un color en general como el café en sí.
I would say that "marrón" is a very specific color ( brown with reddish tones) and "café" is "brown". The color brown can have many different shades/tones, and one of them is "marrón". I grew up in Mexico, so this is my understanding in how we use these two words.
Es difícil para mí corregir éstas frases porque no estoy acostumbrada a decirle al color café "marrón". Uno usa "castaño" o "café" para describir los ojos, el cabello de alguien de manera generalizada (castaño claro, castaño oscuro); bueno, incluso "marrón" si alguien tiene el pelo café algo oscuro con tonos rojizos.
Casi siempre uno usa el término "marrón" para describir ese color en específico como por ejemplo, el color de gabinetes, pisos de madera, muebles, pintura, ropa, zapatos, etc.
