meaning and usage of "la movida"
Hello every one, I am not being able to figure the correct meaning for this word "la movida" some books say "it means scene", some others say "it means movement". I even resorted to the examples given here on spanishdict.com but I rather got all the more confused about its true essence and meaning. can some one kindly help me understand this word. THANKS

Yes, "la movida" is a coloquial word to mean scene, where the nightlife is.
This is the area where the scene is happening Esta es la zona donde está la movida
But also is used to mean like "mess", for example,
Ayer hubo una movida en el parque... Dos chicos estaban discutiendo muy fuerte.
It's quite common to say: "menuda movida" "vaya movida" when you mean like "what a mess!" But it's slang, quite informal and remember, "la movida" is more common in Spain. I've never heard this expression in Central America.
