Grammar is never easy. You need the basics to get started but a lot of the details can wait until you are "up and running" on speaking Spanish. Remember kids don't learn a language by taking grammar classes until around 10 years old.
Vocabulary is king. You can have perfect grammar but if you don't have a good vocabulary you can't say anything. I recommend studying basic grammar and lots of vocabulary.

While I agree with HCA, one quick way to get a quick overview of Spanish grammar is to go through the Michel Thomas course on CD. It is something like drinking water from a fire hose, but he covers a great deal of ground in a very short time.
For a good workbook, go with the Practice Makes Perfect series. They are very good for explaining the basics.
The best way, as HCA said, is to find a class that you can take. This is easier said than done for many people, though. Good luck with your learning!
I don't know what level you have reached. I have previously recommended Mi Vida Loca. It is a story of a girl who goes to Madrid and has lots of adventures, It is interactive and you can add subtitles if you wish. The link will take you to a note of what you will learn in each section including grammar. It starts from beginner so will suit if you are new but is also interesting as a refresher.
I have previously mentioned Notes in Spanish, which starts at beginner but reaches an advanced level and the magazine - you can receive by email Veintemundos which includes grammar with a wealth of other information.
You need some basics to start, but the main idea is to communicate. I find reading and listening to the rythym of Spanish helps me to absorb the right way to structure it. As you have not completed your profile yet, I do not know if your first language is English or if your native language has a grammar completely different to Spanish. The advice to improve your vocabulary is important as understanding how to conjugate a verb, and where to place the noun and adjective is of no use if you cannot remember the words!

I had intended to add Bowdoin but Nicki has.
I go to a class which has a native speaker and there are 12 of us. However, we do not learn a lot of grammar. The previous teacher was shocked at our lack of interest in grammar and said it was a vital part of her education in Mexico as a child.
My view is you need to understand some grammar for example indirect objects, but with the above resources you can check the points when you need them. Meanwhile work on pronunciation so what you say is understood and improve your vocabulary by reading and listening. Some things such as verb endings you just have to learn but whether that is easier for you by watching listening or doing I do not know. Let Spanish into your life every day.

There isn't really a cheat sheet for learning grammar. My advice would be to take a Spanish class.
Remember, grammar is the main part of the language. If you master grammar, you have almost mastered Spanish!

If you ask me, you don't need to take a class to learn grammar. Although, if the class is free, you don't have much to lose. :D

Some people will say to forget about grammar until you can use and get around in the language that you are learning, but I started studying it right away, and I am glad I did.
