when to use colegios and llantas

i use the word neumáticos for tire and escuela for school. I came across the word colegios for school and llantas for tires. When would these word be used as opposed to neumáticos y escuela?

Here in Mexico we use llanta for tire, and cámara for intertube and rin for the rim.

En España usamos Neumático cuando estamos hablando de la cubierta de goma que recubre la rueda. Y llanta cuando hablamos de la parte de metal central que se recubre con el neumático.

Ejemplo: He pinchado una rueda, tengo que cambiar el neumático. Las llantas de mi coche son de aleación de aluminio.


En España normalmente usamos "escuela" para hablar de una academia o un centro pequeño donde se enseña algo específico.

Por ejemplo: una escuela de danza, escuela de arte. O en algunas frases hechas: la escuela de la vida (the things you learn just living), eres de la vieja escuela (To say that you learn something in a different way that now it is teached).

Y colegio para hablar del centro escolar de educación primaria donde aprendes matemáticas, historia... (desde los 6 a los 11 años). Usamos la palabra instituto para hablar del centro donde se cursan E.S.O. y el bachillerato (desde los 12 a los 18 años)


In English: We use "neumático" when we are talking about the piece of gum that cover the wheel. And "llanta" when we are talking about the piece of metal, the "llanta" is covered by the "neumático".


In Spain normally we use escuela when we are talking about a small school or an academy that teach something specific or some idioms And colegio when we are talking about the school, where you learn maths, history... (since 6 to 11 years old). We use the word instituto to talk about the high school (since 12 to 18 years old)

I can only tell you how there used here in CR.

Escuela - Primary school, ie elementary school

Colegio - Secondary school, ie highschool or college.

Neumático - Inertube

Llanta - Tire
