Is "comprarse" a reflexive verb?

I came across a Spanish reflexive verb worksheet. One of the questions was using "comprarse" which I had never really seen before.

Is there a reflexive verb "comprarse"- meaning to buy for oneself?

For example, the worksheet said-

"Las niñas se compran ropa nueva."

The girls bought new clothes for themselves.

I am not a native speaker but I do not think "comprar" can be a reflexive verb. That is unless you are buying yourself. I guess if you pay your own ransom that might be reflexive. But in the case of buying something the object of the verb comprar is the object being bought not the person buying it. So in your example it is not reflexive.

Just my opinion.

Yes, I 'm buying myself a new dress. ( for myself). ??? - annierats, Feb 28, 2014
For myself is the indirect object. Reflexive, I think, must be the direct object. But I am often wrong. - gringojrf, Feb 28, 2014
