What verb would you use to say "I'm a princess"?

When the verb to be is follow by a noun we always use SER and not ESTAR.

You would use ser, assuming you're a permanent princess. If for some reason you're only a temporary princess, use estar. However, most likely than not, the verb is ser. The yo form of ser is soy, so you'd say:

Soy una princesa.

Here's the conjugation of ser (it's a verbo loco!): (yo) soy (tú) eres (él/ella/usted) es (nosotros) somos (vosotros-España) sois (ustedes/ellos/ellas) son

As you can see, it doesn't follow the normal conjugation pattern. Just remember: if you're talking about who you are, what you're like, or where you're from, use the verb ser. It's a very useful verb! Hope that helped!

You are right in almost everything but you never can say I'm a princess with "ESTAR". Always, always to be+noun= SER. Yo estoy una princesa doesn't have any meaning in Spanish. - SpanishSkypeorg, Feb 27, 2014
