As Tiquismiquis said they can have different meanings but if your confusion stems from the fact that they both at times can mean 'to leave' then perhaps this will help ...

Salir means 'to leave' as to vacate an area, leave 'from'.

¿ A qué hora sale su vuelo? what time does your flight leave?

Dejar means 'to leave' in the sense of leaving something or someone somewhere, to let remain or even to abandon.

He left only one piece of pizza for the others.

Sólo dejó una porción de pizza a los demás.

Don't leave your possessions where they are likely to be stolen.

No dejes tus posesiones en donde puedan robártelas.

To begin with:

let = dejar

leave = salir/irse

Good and glad to be of help. There is no reason why you shouldn't understand, by the way. - chileno, Feb 21, 2014

Hay muchísimas diferencias. Si concretas más, igual podemos decirte las que te interesan.
