Cuánto + tener

Question

So right now I am working in a carnicería (actual Mexican canicería, not just a butcher shop) and I have been making a lot of progress on my spoken Spanish. I've come across a lot of interesting turn of phrases and fun things in Spanish and much to my delight I have been mistaken as Argentinian.

The interesting phrase I want to share with you all is an alternate to the boring old "¿Cuánto cuesta?" that we are all used to as meaning "How much does it cost?"

The alternate is "¿Cuánto tener?" or used in a sentence "¿Cuánto tiene (la asada)?"

Naturally I was perplexed the first time I heard this but I understand it now and I thought that you all would enjoy it.

Maybe it's "¿A cuánto tiene/s la/el...? Not very common, but sometimes you can hear that... And the "a" it's really difficult to notice...

Much more frequent: "¿A cuánto está la/el...?"
