"...porque si fuese otra vez acometido y se viese armado caballero, no pensaba dejar persona viva en el castillo, excepto aquéllas que él le mandase."

Can a native Spanish speaker, preferably, or just someone that's good at Spanish (do not use google translate) give an ACCURATE translation of the sentence above?

Thanks. For the record, I've tried desperately to figure out the meaning, but I have been unable to.

The full text in Spanish:

Todo se lo creyó don Quijote, y dijo que él estaba allí pronto para obedecerle, y que concluyese con la mayor brevedad que pudiese: porque si fuese otra vez acometido y se viese armado caballero, no pensable dejar persona viva en el castillo, exepto aquellas que él le mandase, a quien por su respeto dejaría.

The full text in English:

Don Quixote believed it all, and told him he stood there ready to obey him, and to make an end of it with as much despatch as possible; for, if he were again attacked, and felt himself to be dubbed knight, he would not, he thought, leave a soul alive in the castle, except such as out of respect he might spare at his bidding.

Source: the book in English. Whenever you're stuck, it's not a bad idea to take a look at the English text.

Full marks, better than mine. I did no research, so I'm actually pleased, not too far off. - annierats, Feb 17, 2014

My try, please note that I'm not a native.

Because, if he were to be attacked again he would consider himself a knight in armor, and he would not leave a soul alive in the castle, except for those he himself ordered to be left alive.

Because if he were again attacked and he would look himself an armored knight, he thought of letting live no one in the castle, except those whom he would order..(to do so).

I don't know if you'd understand now. Let me know if you still have doubts.
