What is the difference between dama and senora?

Greetings! I know that both dama and senora can mean Lady, but I am not sure when you would use one over the other. Thank you.

Dama es muy formal, lo más habitual es usar señora. Algunos usos:

  • "Primera Dama" : esposa del máximo dirigente de un país.
  • "Damas y caballeros" : expresión formal de "Señoras y señores".
  • en poesía.

Como siempre, hay que tener en cuenta que el uso del vocabulario depende del país. En este caso me refiero a España; en Latinoamérica puede ser diferente.

Okay, I'm not quite sure, but I think that dama is more for very important women or women held in high respect, while señora is a more generic term used for any woman in general.

If I'm wrong about this, please correct me.
