Me divierto mucho. (I have fun or I'm having fun.)

Estoy divirtiéndome. (I'm having fun.)

would estoy teniendo divertido mean i am having fun ? - jackspratt999, Jan 27, 2014
'me estoy divirtiendo', but really, you don't need the estoy construction for this. Most of the time, people will understand exactly what you are saying (if there's going to be any other context beside just the one statement, I mean). - Helado_eclectico, Jan 27, 2014
Thanks, What's the difference between divirtiendo and divierto? - jackspratt999, Jan 27, 2014
@ Jackspratt, no you don't use 'have' (tener) like we do in our English expression as Spanish has that special verb 'divertirses' which means 'to have fun' :) - Kiwi-Girl, Jan 27, 2014
divierto is the present indicative, finite, meaning 'enjoy/enjoying'. divirtiendo is the present participle, nonfinite, meaning 'currently enjoying' or as mostly used, 'estar divirtiendo' meaning 'to be currently enjoying'. - Helado_eclectico, Jan 27, 2014
divertirse is probably closer to 'to be enjoying oneself', but in recent years, you mostly hear 'to be having fun'. Same deal, really. - Helado_eclectico, Jan 27, 2014
So if i was going to say "i'm having a great time" at the time i'm writing, i would use estar divirtiendo? - jackspratt999, Jan 27, 2014
estoy* - jackspratt999, Jan 27, 2014
yes but remember the verb is pronominal divertirSE so you need 'me' which can go at the beginning or on the end of the present participle, me estoy divirtiendo or estoy divirtiéndome - Kiwi-Girl, Jan 28, 2014

Variety is the spice of life. There's not just one way of saying what we want to express. For example, I often say, "I am enjoying life" which translates to "Estoy disfrutando de la vida."

But me estoy divirtiendo would still make sense? - jackspratt999, Jan 27, 2014
It makes sense to me, but I am not a Spanish speaker. It's important to use phrases that 'they' use. - Raja-jani, Jan 28, 2014
