how to say because we had never been before?

How would i say, "because we had never been on a day trip before"?

And how would i say "i will eat alot but my dad will not because he never eats"?

1st. Porque nunca habíamos estado en una excursión de un día antes.

2nd. Me voy a comer mucho, pero mi papá será no porque nunca come.

These are some odd sentences. What are you using them for?

I recall something like 'mi esposo nunca duerme en el sofá, per yo sí'. In this case, no is being used in place of sí, I think. - Helado_eclectico, Jan 27, 2014
