Jugar ( hoo-gahr' )

verb ( to play )

We are looking for someone to correct the Spanish sentences. Contact me if you are interested in helping others to learn Spanish. Please help each other with corrections as you are able. There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words!

Se ha jugado al polo por a menos 2500 años y cerámicas chinas de las más remotas dinastías nos muestran a jinetes jugando al polo.El Polo moderno se juega entre dos equipos de cuatro jinetes en periodos de 6 minutos llamadan ''chukkers''. Un partido tiene siete ''chukkers'' y dura una hora y media.

The game of polo has been played for at least 2500 years, and Chinese pottery from the most ancient dynasties show us riders playing polo. Modern polo is played by two teams of four riders, in game-periods of 6 minutes, known as chukkas. A game consists of seven chukkas and lasts about an hour and a half.

"To play" en el tiempo presente es el único cambiador de raíz de "u" para "ue" en el botín.

"Jugar" in the present tense is the only stem changer from "u" to "ue" in the boot.
