"Good Evening" & "Good Night"

Question

In the Spanish Language is "Buenes Noches" used for both good evening & good night. There is a difference in English. Thank you.

In the USA. I go to a retaurant at 9pm. I say good evening. When I leave I say goodnight. Is there a difference in S.A. Spanish? - taipei5200, Jan 14, 2014

There is certainly overlap, but in general "good evening" could be "buenas tardes", as well as "good afternoon". Pretty much as in English, you could say "good evening" up to the early night time hours.
