What is the difference between Para mí and A mí?

Question

I know if I want to say I like something I would say "a mí" but other scenarios seem to confuse me. I'd really appreciate it if you could give some examples of the two. Thank you!

¿Este es un regalo para mí? ( Is this a present for me? )

Mi madre me dijo a mí que le gustaría darme un regalo ( My mother said to me that she would like to give me a present)

It's difficult to say, and it depends on the context but: Para mí: For me A mí: To me

Juan tiene una carta para mí. Juan have a letter for me. Eres muy importante para mí. You are very important for me.

A mí me gusta el helado de chocolate. I like chocolate ice cream. A mí no me importa. Don't mind.

No confundir con: "a mi" (sin tilde) Le daré la caja a mi hermana mañana. I'll give my sister the box tomorrow.
