It depends on context and sentence structure. When SIDA is the subject it normally uses an article, ie: Todavía el SIDA no tiene cura.
Or sometimes when used as a direct object: Todavía no hay cura para el SIDA.
But other times as a direct object, no article is used: La gente que tiene SIDA tiene que batallar constantemente contra él.
