Help with translating sentence

Question

I need help with translating the sentence "that's one of the reasons why..", because what I made up don't look very correct Could I say "una de las razones"? And what do I add after that?

I'd say: Esa es una de las razones por las cuales...

Puedes decir: "Esa es una de las razones por las que...".

Could you give us a bit more context, please? Without context it's very hard to know how to go on, or which tense we are in.

It's supposed to be in this context: I like being part of different communities. That's one of the reasons why I'm a member of the council. - Lombaxine, Jan 2, 2014
