Nos fuimos en avion, no solamente era largo sino que fatigante, aunque por suerte valía la Pena. Is this correct for if I want to say we went by plane, not only was it long but also tiring, although it was worth it. Please can you correct the sentence and write it out for me correctly, thank you

Nos fuimos en avión. No solamente fue largo sino también fatigoso, aunque por suerte valió la pena.

Note that I have changed the tense because I suppose the action took place a long time ago.
