Amused By My Own Stupidity

Question

So I obviously don't spend enough time in the kitchen...

I just finished watching lesson 2.12 (Informal Commands In The Kitchen). On a side note, I believe I've developed a crush on Paralee. Back on topic... I believe that I now know more Spanish names for kitchen items than I do in my native English. In English, everything that I (rarely) cook in I either describe as a pot, or a pan. But now I know about la olla, la cacerola, el molde, y la sartén.

Thank you to SpanishDict for improving my Spanish and culinary skills simultaneously. When Paralee decides to come by my house for dinner she is going to be very impressed.

Vevans, I love this post but I don't think it's stupidity.Its all part of the learning process.

It's kind of crazy when you begin to know words in your second (or third, or fourth, etc.) language that you don't know in your first language. I can relate when because I know a lot of words that have to do with phonetics, grammar and linguistics only in Spanish. I often invent incorrect English words when I am trying to explain something to someone. I think Paralee lives here in Colorado, so if I see her wandering the streets of Denver I'll put in a good word for you.

That's a good point. I was never taught grammar in English....I'm an educator and dabble in writing and I still don't claim to understand the specifics of English grammar. I'm studying it in Spanish though, so I can relate. Colorado isn't too far... - vevans, Dec 27, 2013
