I have a Spanish midterm tomorrow. The teacher took it and only received a 90. She is a native speaker and the teacher! I don't know what to do anymore cuz if she who the new speaker and the teacher only get the 90 how was the student supposed to do. All the students have already taking said it was the hardest Exam they have ever taken. What should I do to better prepare? The teacher said there will be a lot of subjective, present perfect ,imperfect, and preterite. overall I think I'm prepared enough because I know all the conjugation rules but I'm still worried as all the smart people in Spanish said it was really hard. What are some good ways I coulp prepare? Thank you!

Please use proper English and spelling when asking a question. This doesn't make a lot of sense. - rac1, Dec 19, 2013
I would suggest studying ahead of time. - rac1, Dec 19, 2013

Try these tips:

  1. Google "Spanish Midterm Practice"

  2. Review everything the teacher has warned you about until you know it by heart. If there are a lot of these on the Test, and you know how to solve them, you'll get a lot of questions right!

  3. Review spelling. There are some teachers who will take points away for misspelling.

  4. Go up to a family member with a list of problems you know will be on the Exam. Ask them to randomly select a question.

  5. Imagine the Test is a lot harder than you think. A test that would make a fluent speaker flunk! If you study for a test like that, you will likely have studied far more than required and will get a great grade! The other end of that spectrum is that the Test is just as hard as that, but in that case you are ready for it!

Conclusion: Over prepare! Study like you life depends on it (which it might). And remember this, "If the teacher only got a 90, then this Test is extraordinarily difficult. Even if you only get a C, at least you passed such a difficult Test (Don't think I'm saying it is okay to get low grades all the time. To quote Bill Cosby, "This is a hard C")

Buena suerte

Honestly, I don't overtly practice for generic Spanish tests.

If my teacher has a list of vocab or grammar that she wants us to cover then I learn those. If it's on a specific story (Mi Caball Mago for instance) then I'll re-read the story and any notes I have. But if it's a generic test on my language ability as a whole I see no need to practice. Language isn't a bag of tricks you can memorize; it's a set of skills you acquire over many hours of exposure and practice

In terms of things you can do to prepare:

  • Review key vocab

  • Look over some constructions or conjugations

  • Relax and watch some Spanish Youtube (I suggest Youtubers "Alex Keyblade" and "Pyflatino").

Good luck and (more importantly) have fun!

It's a Chinese/Japanese character meaning "heart". It was one of the first Japanese words I ever learned (Kokoro) so it represents the start of my language-learning journey :) - HackerKing, Dec 19, 2013

If you studied during the semester, passing the exam wouldn't be a big problem. Getting a C or even B could easily be done by simply reviewing the materials and not skipping Spanish classes. But if you didn't study for the whole semester and now you want to ace the exam, it'd be hard, even impossible unless you are lucky and have good memory. Anyways, check these articles: Study Hacks That Will Help You Ace Your Final Exams - Business Insider and Fun Ways to Study - Research Paper Writings. Probably there will be something of help.
