how to translate "hacer pasito"?

I came across the phrase "hagámonos pasito" and in context I guessed that it meant "let's call a truce" or something to that effect. Does anyone know if this is correct, and where the phrase comes from?

Gracias!

In your context, it would have to come from the phrase "hacer las paces" (to reconcile) originating from the noun la paz, but pasito is not correct spelling for this context.
