Ratón for computer mouse?

Ratón for computer mouse?

I'm currently in Ecuador, and a native Spanish speaker said they don't use "ratón" to describe the mouse of a computer. Rather they say "mouse". I asked what they say if it's plural, and the answer made me laugh: los mouses

I am wondering if ratón is used in other Spanish speaking countries, or did I just make it up? I must have heard it somewhere.

Thanks! Scott

I think I saw "ráton" in a textbook once, but I'm not native so we'll wait for some more educated answers :-D - Estudiante77, Dec 12, 2013

In Argentina we say mouse too. You didn't make that up, in some places they do call it ratón and even if you say ratón here and people know you are talking about a computer they will understand you.

No, no te lo estás inventando. En España decimos "ratón", así que es posible que lo hayas leído u oído en algún sitio.

Hi there. As Cordobesa pointed out, in Spain we say "ratón (singular)" and "ratones (plural)". Of course you can always find people who use anglicisms like 'mouse' in his habitual speech but this is far from being common.
