Fue abierta v estaba abierta
Hola! ¿Cuál es la diferencia entre "la puerta fue abierta (voz pasiva)" y "la puerta estaba abierta"?
Is it "the door was closed" and "the door was being closed" pr is it different in the context of ser/estar + participio pasado?

Hi there!
"La puerta fue abierta (por alguien)", as you pointed out, is passive for "(Alguien) abrió la puerta". This sentence is used to express the action of opening the door or to refer to the person who opened it.
"La puerta estaba abierta" expresses the state of the door. You don't know who or what opened it or when it was opened. From this sentence you only know that the door was there, opened. As in: 'the door was already opened when I arrived'.
Greetings.
Correct my English, please
As Relaxing says, the phrase always occurs in exercises requiring 'por', because that is the crux of the matter, if it was opened by someone, then it was a one off action, not just a description of something in the past..
La ventana fue abierta por la profesora. One off action in the past. Preterite.
En verano, la ventana siempre estaba abierta . Description in the past. Imperfect.
