Hello everyone,

The Picture of the Day. Game for practicing and having fun.

Pon tu comentario/ título/ pie de foto a esta imagen (ambos en español y inglés) y vota por las respuestas que te gusten. La mejor respuesta será seleccionada mañana, tanto por la cantidad de votos como por la corrección en el uso del idioma.

Remember to correct your posts as suggested. Posts that are not corrected cannot be "accepted".

Recuerda corregir tus respuestas según las sugerencias. Las respuestas que no estén corregidas no podrán ser "aceptadas".

Please give everyone a chance and only post one caption and no photos.

Por favor, deja que todos tengan una oportunidad y pon solo una respuesta, sin fotos.

I will advise on the Spanish part, and I'm still looking for volunteers on the English part.

Yo aconsejaré sobre la parte en español, y busco a algún voluntario para la parte inglesa.

This is the previous: Picture of the day: Nada de nada.
(Please correct my English)

Se ha reducido el ejército en los útimos años y a los jovenes no les gusta trabajar, pero mantenemos nuestra posición como fuerza mundial, no obstante.

.

The army has been cut back in the last few years and the young people don't want to work but we're maintaining our position as a world power nevertheless. .

"El ejército se ha reducido en los últimos años y los jóvenes no quieren trabajar". ("no les gusta trabajar (they don't like to work)" is okay too.) + "pero mantenemos nuestra posición como potencia/fuerza mundial, no obstante..." Very good! - RelaxingCup, Dec 3, 2013
Also: "sin embargo mantenemos nuestra posición como fuerza/potencia mundial." - RelaxingCup, Dec 3, 2013

This is what happens when you cross the A. A. R .P. with the N. R. A.

Es lo que pasa cuando se cruza la A .A. R. P. con la N. R .A.

"Quiero uno de estos" for specific masculine or for things in general and "Quiero una de estas" for feminine. For example: "arma" would be feminine. :) - RelaxingCup, Dec 3, 2013
Thanks RC. I have trouble thinking it through to the object being referenced. I have gender issues with Spanish. - gringojrf, Dec 3, 2013

Man: Now that's a retired "granny" marine! One who never forgets her training!

In this city, the retired persons spend one afternoon with a soldier. They learn that they are not too old to learn.

En esta ciudad, los jubilados pasan una tarde con un soldado. Ellos aprenden que no son demasiado viejos para aprender.

I think you were looking for "vago" (unproductive person). "vagabundo" means 'homeless'. So: "¡Ok, vagos, alegradme el día!" (Dirty Harry style) + "¡Ya es suficiente abuelita, devuélveme mi pistola!". 'to give' = "dar", 'to give back' = "devolver". - RelaxingCup, Dec 3, 2013
Gracias amigo - I made a real dog´s dinner of that right? - ian-hill, Dec 3, 2013
Jajaja, it was good! "alégrame el día" and "ya es suficiente" are tricky expressions. :) - RelaxingCup, Dec 3, 2013

Hi Ray! Yours is understandable but why not to use the present tense all over the sentence? "No hay té y galletas de mi abuela, hoy, ella es Ramba" :D - RelaxingCup, Dec 3, 2013
