I have only just learnt the Spanish expression for the English word peep It is echar un vistazo

Can someone please help me translate the following sentence. I am having great difficulty doing it myself.

She was inaudible except to the ears of the Jack Russell, and invisible except to the longing eyes that peeped out at her through the fingers of Mrs Kennel's hand.

I have only attempted to translate: the longing eyes that peeped out at her through the fingers of Mrs Kennel's hand. Does the following make sense

los ojos deseosos le echaban un vistazo por los dedos de la mano de la Sra. Kennel.

I would say: .......... los ojos deseosos que le echaban un vistazo entre los dedos de la mano de la Sra. Kennel.

You've actually done a great job but I do have a couple of suggestions:

mirar or asomar can also be used to mean 'to peep'

Ella era inaudible, excepto/salvo para los oídos del Jack Russell, e invisible, excepto para los ojos anhelantes que la miraron/miraban a través de los dedos de la mano de la señora Kennel.

or another option for the peep part ...

los ojos anhelantes que se asomaron/se asomaban a ver a través de los dedos
