Equal things...again

Question

I know this is the third post about this, but I am having so much trouble getting the concept of comparing equal things. I have read my textbook on it, watched my tutorials, looked at my PowerPoints, done an activity (and failed) and then over here I read the Spanish Grammar article on Comparing Equal things, and tried doing the practice quiz, and it is turning out to be a disaster! Can anyone help me?
