Advanced Grammar Quiz

For the advanced learners here I've posted an advanced grammar quiz to go with the first 'Aprendamos del Gran Maestro' lesson.

I'll be making a beginner's quiz too so will let you know when that's ready.

If you do the quiz, please do let us know how you got on and if you found it helpful/interesting or if you spotted any errors etc.

Enjoy!

I got 9/11. Pretty good considering my hate of grammar. But I would argue that number one is vague and can be more than one answer.

I thought that "la gente" is always given a personal "a". Oh well.

Good exercise. Thanks.

Awesome, well done, iyes the first one could be either but the question just asks why you think fue was used, so that we learn to think about perspectives instead of just whether a verb is right or wrong. - Kiwi-Girl, Nov 21, 2013

Thanks, KiwiGirl! That was fun!

I got a 10/11. The question on the personal "a" stumped me, haha...

Thank you so much for this quiz, amiga!

My score was:

10/11

(I got question 9 wrong)

FYI - I found a small typo in the English on Question 6:

Question 6

In the first line of the second paragraph we find 'to become' expressed in another way, this time 'llegar a ser' is used. Do you know this form of 'to become' would have been used in the sentence, 'él llego a ser el hombre más sabio que haya vivido en la tierra'?

I believe the bolded sentence should actually read:

Do you know why this form of 'to become' would be used in the sentence, 'él llegó a ser el hombre más sabio que haya vivido en la tierra'?

Anyway, it's just a small correction, nothing big! Great test! I really enjoyed it. =]

You're quite right, thanks for catching it I'll go and fix it straight away. :). Well done with the test! - Kiwi-Girl, Nov 21, 2013

I think "la gente" needs to be "las personas"?

I like the example of a habitual, recurring event being in the imperfect. Maybe my mind is ready to "see" this now.

Also, I like the example of a subjunctive following "es como sí"/it's as if, in this case hablara.

11/11
Though I did have to look back in the lesson about "llegar a" for "to become!

¡Muchas gracias, Kiwi, para compartir y para todo tu trabajo duro!

The story was nice to read. I did the quiz without looking at what the questions were asking and got 64%.

I'm glad you liked the story but I'm not so sure that's the best way to do a quiz lol - Kiwi-Girl, Nov 21, 2013
