Is it correct to say? Tengo que hacer caso con cuidado a mi profesor. I have to pay attention carefully to my professor.

My understanding is that "hacer caso" does mean to pay attention but the conotation being "to heed" or "take advice" or "to mind". Many parents I work with will say "mi hijo no me hace caso" meaning he doesn't mind me or he pays no attention to me. I think in the context of a classroom situation "prestar atención" feels better. I may be wrong
