Repetition my dear.... It will take you a while.... Learn something then use it... practice it... go over it for a least a week(or more if necessary) until it sticks..... Move on only when you can recall what you have learned with little effort.

Well, you're starting out right. Thinking about things before going to bed is scientifically proven method of increasing recall and retention. So, good start.

If may be that your'e not thinking in the way that is best for you. For many people, it's a case of not truly thinking about the meaning, and just going through the motions. Another possibility is when one thinks of things too passively, or in isolation. i.e. memorizes word lists, or just thinks about the lists, or grammatical facts and rules, but doesn't actually actively practice by forming complete sentences using all those lists and rules.

Try thinking up 3 or 4 sentences for each rule or concept you learned, rather than just thinking about the words and concepts. That more active role helps most people.

I like to listen to Spanish music (... of course Shakira) and watch movies. It helps me pick up expressions and phrases. Also, this sounds weird, but if you don't have anyone to talk to in Spanish, talk to yourself. It will at least force you to keep using and apply what you know grin

¡Puedes hacerlo, no lo olvides!
