How long should I practice spanish for?
I must assume that English is not your native language either. If you insist on using for in the above sentence, then it should be: For how long should I practice Spanish? Otherwise, just: How long should I practice?
I can't speak spanish that good.
Good is an adjective. The adverb well should be used here.
It depends on the person...... I have been learning Spanish all of my life although I'm not Spanish/Latino. First grade to sixth, I learned the basics(alphabet, counting, colors, basic greetings) then I took formal classes in middle school. It took longer than it should because I didn't apply myself then like I do now. I didn't get serious about Spanish until adulthood(I had been out of school for at least 10 years). When I got serious about learning, I studied for at least 2 hours per(because I was excited and had the hunger) for about 6 months to refresh what I had learned. It took me about 4 years of serious study for at least an hour a day because I had to find everything on my own(no teacher's help) and because I had to fill so many gaps in my Spanish(which also came from very bad/rushed teaching). Long story. short... you have to put in the hours. It won't come easy unless you're a genius then I would say a genius(or a young child)could learn in less than 3 years. I would say a good average is 3-4 years.
One way you can get better at speaking Spanish is to practice Spanish with someone who is a native Spanish speaker-possibly one who wants to improve their English.
