I can't find a definition of this word, "comenzante" I found it used in the sentence: "El comenzante comenzó al comienzo." Can any one help me? So far I have translate, "The ________ it began at the beginning"

The beginner began at the beginning.
Principante is more common.

I am thinking that it is an adaptation of comenzar (the verb) into a noun. I have a friend who says to his kids, "No eres mi ayudante pero mi estorbante". "Estorbante" is not a recognized word either. So I am thinking that this is a play on words that translates exactly as annie has suggested.
