preterito con haber

por favor administrador,

cuando estoy usando traducir por haber estoy diciendo, yesterday I had worked. pero, traducir dice..".ayer había" por que? ayer es una palabra para significar preterito...sí?

There is a tense in Spanish that is "Preterit of haber" + "participle" for example:

Yo hube comido.

Ella hubo llegado.

This tense though is falling out of fashion and (at least in Latin America) is pretty much confined to literature. You won't be using this tense too much.
